El Retiro Building

Location: El Retiro, Antioquia
The project is situated in the town of El Retiro, Antioquia, on an irregular lot that currently accommodates a deteriorated house slated for demolition. The design encompasses two towers, each comprising three levels, surrounding a central courtyard. This layout is inspired by the distribution found in heritage houses typical of the area. The courtyard serves a dual purpose – functioning as a recreational space for the building's occupants while also serving as a ventilation and lighting area for the surrounding spaces.
The architectural design draws inspiration from the characteristics of colonial homes, but it takes a contemporary approach to reinterpret and modernize their aesthetic.
